The SYNERGY Project is a strategic development tool in the regeneration of the North London Social Economy and is designed to implement the integration of all target groups into mainstream activities by adapting current practices to make best use of available educational and training resources.
The SYNERGY project uses collaboration, trust and co-operation to harness this truth and apply the dynamics of local knowledge for the promotion of cultural diversity.
The SYNERGY Project in North London integrates Commerce, Culture, Technology, Education, Health, Employment, Community Development and Social Enterprise into a seamless framework accessed by the whole community.
The North London Model provides a benchmark for Best Practice.
North London Model
The North London Model is comprised of 3 key interrelated programmes :
Programme 1. Diversity in Construction
Programme 2. Business & Economic Development
Programme 3. Social Enterprise
The SYNERGY Project has paved the way for coherent Cultural Diversity strategies in North London. Through a series of interlocking meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences and activities with the theme "Linking Aspirations Together ".
Activities reflect the ethnic and cultural dimensions in the community and build upon existing partnerships and resources. A new portfolio of relationships has been created between private, public and voluntary sector organisations underpinned by a strategic approach to Education, Training and Skills Development.
Communications & Social Marketing
The continuing fragmentation of communication channels is an ongoing challenge to the promotion of a unified message serving diverse communities.
The SYNERGY Project is the ultimate communications tool for people programmes and building new relationships using diverse channels and innovative approaches such as a communications support group (CSG), cultural action teams (CATS), knowledge-share (on-line data bank), word of mouth, relevant advertising and media for this particular target group. (mail shots, newsletters, technological on-line sources, events and related activities).
Cultural activities and it's social partnerships are an integral part of the collective contribution to the quality of life and health of a community.
The means of communication may be different but the needs are the same.
Way Forward
The SYNERGY Project's integrated approach is a catalyst for ongoing mapping, research, needs evaluation and capturing cultural knowledge.
The conceptual framework recognises the target groups as valued consumers who, through collaboration, trust and co-operation will contribute to the development of their neighbourhood and the whole community.
The Synergy Project's clearly stated aim provides an adaptable solution to the shifting environment caused by the changing demands of a new generation.
The SYNERGY Project's “Contract with the Community” demonstrates the benefits of participation in the array of educational, cultural, training and employment initiatives.
It also involves the target groups in the delivery, whilst making individuals aware that they are personally responsible for their skills and educational development to meet the needs of the marketplace.
This will contribute to the foundation of a Centre of Expertise for Cultural Diversity.
